Needle used to access THA in an obese patient post-op

63 yo man with total hip arthroplasty, rule out septic arthritis. Large abdominal pannus significantly overlies hip joint; recent incision laterally. Used Morrison needle starting inferior and medial to joint, curving upward toward prosthetic joint.

Needle was extremely easy to use; stayed in place when stylet relaxed, removed. Procedure highly successful, avoided dangerous areas. Positioning took less than one minute.
